well... Llewelyn was an entertainment. I knew him fairly well and I suppose he ought to be a source of tales about his father, but as an adult he kept his distance. All the biographies, including mine, dredge up plenty of stories, many of them stemming from DT himself, & so suspect. If you can get hold of it, a book by Gwen Watkins, 'Dylan Thomas. Portrait of a Friend' (a publisher in Wales, Y Lolfa) gives fresh stories or fuller versions of old ones. eg Vernon (poet husband of Gwen) brought Dylan a bag of plums, which he loved. Dylan lies on sofa, says, 'Can I have one?' Cat snaps, 'He has to get up & fetch it if he wants one.' He doesn't get up but keeps saying in a wheedling voice, 'Ca-at. Can I have a plum.' This goes on for some time. She ignores him. Then picks up the bag and bombards him with every plum in it. A journalist I once worked with, who was from Swansea and knew Dylan personally, once told me a long story of DT & Caitlin somehow managing to lose her contraceptive device in a stream when they were living near Oxford. How that came about I can't imagine.

Thin harvest. Read the biographies! (maybe you have).

kind regards, paul f
